Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School aims to provide students with pleasurable food experiences and develop their understanding of environmental sustainability through growing their own produce.

Pleasurable food education is about experiencing the joys of digging in the garden, picking fresh veggies, smelling and tasting the food they prepare and sharing the experience with their friends and helpers.

In addition, this program teaches learners to grow fresh, seasonal produce and use it to prepare nutritious food. Students are provided with all the skills, experiences and role modelling they need to learn to love vegetables, and to make positive choices about what to cook and eat for life.

We have a passion for bringing health and wellbeing to our community, and a desire to feed hungry minds.
